hey disabled artist here. you asked for feedback, ive got it. i dont have any unique opinions necessarily, but talking about how i feel about ai in regards to my disabilities, is something i hadnt thought to do before now. i rarely have the energy to leave the house or feed myself due to fatigue and depression. i live paycheck to paycheck without enough food to eat every day. Diagnosed I have ADHD, anxiety, depression, cptsd, a dissociative disorder and autism. needless to say, actually getting the energy to draw is incredibly difficult. but taking a shortcut by writing a prompt and making a computer do it for me was NEVER an option. art is about the process, and the journey, and the care and skill and time that goes into it. i havent spent a decade improving my skills just to go "welp nevermind i can hack it now!" that is, with all due respect, stupid as shit. and seeing others figuratively sit on their ass and type random words into their computer and MAYBE do some "editing", is fucking insulting to my experience and history and struggles. when i doodle on paper and it ends up better than i expected, thats art. when i experiment with new brushes i know ill never use again and make something silly looking, thats art. when i struggle over mask filters and line thickness until i find the perfect fit, thats art. when i finish something i can be proud of and show my loved ones after months of art block and trying to overcome my own human limits, thats art. when my experiences and emotions and unique life and thoughts make their way into a simple sketch for others to notice and comment on, THAT is art. not this bastardized stolen slop that you cant be assed to make yourself. if i can struggle and persevere for the sake of my art as a disabled poor queer person, you can get off your ass and get your hands dirty. do not use my struggles as an excuse. horrible.
