I think the only fault in his reasoning here is he is telling ChatGPT that pressing the donation button says he "COULD" save the lives of so many kids with malaria. Whereas the drowning children ARE currently drowning and "WOULD" be saved by the press of a button. There is only a moral obligation to the latter because the first is a hypothetical and the second is observable (if it were true).
