I am not trying to blame to victim, but I think there are inconsistencies in the story, aside from the red flags. I am also kind of curious how such a naive person wanted to work for a director for free. If you spot this in first few seconds, then cool, you too are a fellow skeptic. I feel, we were not given the full picture to truly understand what went wrong, aside from AI stuff. Also, Sam to answer your question, the end goal is "Consume, want more of the same and don't ask questions". We are heading towards 1984.
