I'm a backend developer and wanted to learn some frontend development, so I've been using ChatGPT to help fill in those skills. I first took an online course on React with Redux, and then used ChatGPT to learn React Native. Now I have a small mobile app and am going to deploy it soon. I found that CharGPT is good at getting a project started, but once it gets moderately complex, ChatGPT starts to make mistakes and forgets details about previous suggestions that it made, contradicting itself. You have to learn when you can take it's suggestions as-is and what you can't. You can ask it follow-up questions to get clarification or alternative solutions, but you have to have enough development experience to recognize the difference between those situations. Still, I found it incredibly useful for working through problems that would normally have blocked me from making progress. You have to treat everything it suggests with a little bit of scrutiny. On balance, its usefulness has far outweighed the mistakes it has made though. It doesn't replace developers, I think it enhances developers' skills and can help them build new skills, so I think it's a net positive.
