AI is like a person who only traces and never learns why the artist they trace from is doing something. The critical flaw of AI art is that it doesn't understand what about the image is good only that the person at the end likes it.
It's really the problem with AI in general, we train AI from a top to bottom down method of teaching. We get the AI to understand what results we are looking for but the AI doesn't understand fundamentally the goal and why the goal exists.
