This is actually a big problem people have been struggling with. But I have a solution if you're fine with redundancy. Instead of just right-to-left, you do that then top-to-bottom, then algorithmically. (I plan on having it just follow the borders, because that's how I mark up my spreadsheets. But you need one for any person's methods)
