Moving faster is debatable, when you can't trust a single line of code and have to double-check every single line in every PR, that takes HOURS and i could just trust my fellow developers before to know willingly ship malicious code, sneaky bugs, push dependencies that are broken or have vulnerabilities, nowadays i have to triple check all these things for every single PR anyone makes, because AI is contributing a lot to developer laziness and people just aren't double checking, they use the agent the agent spits out some code, they check that it does the main thing they asked and submit it.
As they do this they forget how to do it without the AI and have no fundamental understanding of the things they're pushing because nobody bothers to read documentation anymore.
This is why software is actively being enshittified and more and bugs are growing exponentially with each passing year. I think of AI as a big fat loan we're all taking out and we're gonna have to pay back eventually, this path we're on is not sustainable
