Doesn't the vast amount of energy required to operate AI create a steep resistance curve against continuing AI advancement at some point? Even if AI can solve most of the relevant problems of power generation on paper, actually rolling out those solutions through existing infrastructure will be a monumental undertaking. We can scarecely keep roads paved or large cities reliably lit as it is.
