Animals also dont possess those abilities but are still considered intelligent. It would probably be pretty easy to create an AI version of a rat in a cage and have it act and respond in the same way a real rat would. And actually the best chess machines adapt to a certain player's style and learn how to counter it. You demand that AI has all the things we dont even fully understand yet (self awareness, reasoning, conscience, etc).
