i think the problem is that the AI doesnt generate art completely from scratch, its more like copying something, whereas a human still has to start from a blank canvas and create something there
ones that DO create from scratch, do it in minutes, not seconds, because they have to figure out shapes and colors as they are going rather than just copying a set of shapes, warping them together, averaging stuff, etc.
then theres the fact that if they are too similar, it might be more likely that they just copied and then tried to transform the copy rather than create from scratch
you can see this when they use each others' work, they fail horribly, because any imperfection gets amplified by the transformation that the next AI does, which means theres no actual style, its all just copied, and it fools you into thinking its actually intelligent
