This Argument that China wouldn't slow down their research isn't a complete factual statement. We need mutual equitable cooperation with China as Ai develops. An Ai treaty where cooperating nations, completely operate transparently and help each other. Which requires global standardize regulations. Also model developed along with their weights can be peer reviewed and inspected. The only ones who would not want mutually developed ai are the private companies in the US and Wallstreet. China all their Ai development companies are state funded and monitored.
So if we are serious about avoid a catastrophic event. The US... All Ai developing countries need to come together with actual intelligence treaty of protection for humanity.
We can do this together.... Competition isn't fun when one realizes just how monumentally destructive the final outcome is.
Lets do this right and together with China. They aren't the enemy. They are human too. 🙏
