I'm a hobbyist Artist myself and I don't know what all the fuss is about. Most Artists complaining about AI generated art aren't even professional Artists (meaning Artists that get paid for their art) and never will be, because as professional Artist they have to be able to adapt all art styles and not just their own. Most professional artists are animators or concept artist and have to work with their team, so they have to adapt. Furthermore, most Artists don't even have their own art style to begin with. They are just copying the styles of other artist or at least never tried to find their own style. In order to become a target for AI-Training you need to have a unique art style, that is able to attract a big audience... Most of the time people want to make money with AI. If you don't attract a big audience, you don't get a lot of money from it. So, most Artists aren't even a target. Only professional artists really have something to lose. If you are just doing art for fun or recreational purposes, you can still do that. Nothing prevents you from doing it. You can even show it to the public. You only have to worry if you have a big fan base or if you see that you attract a lot of attention. And even then... If the person who created the model for your unique art style isn't even getting money from it, and you aren't either... Still, no harm done. Only if you make money from your own art and you lose money, because of an AI copying your style, only then you have a problem. So, if you see that your art gains popularity you "need" to poison your art. But, let's be honest here... In today's day and age almost no one would pay tons of money for your art and especially not if it's not even good enough. And by the way... The notion the AI is and can't ever be a new art tool is stupid! You can use it for backgrounds that don't have to be detailed, or for inspiration, or quick concepts, or color composition tests, or shading test. With image to image generation this is easily possible for any your drawings. And if you really have such a unique and interesting art style that everyone wants to see and would pay tons of money for it, create your own AI model and monetize it by setting up your own Image generation service! First of all it would be so much better then the one from the typical AI Slop Trainer, because you are the expert for your own style and can quickly create new training data if and when needed! And the most important part, you are making money from it! And if someone wants to have an original artwork from you personally, you could still charge tons of money for it, because it's an original! And maybe, just maybe, this AI model is a bit less soulless, because you created it yourself and all the love and care you put in is reflected in the results. Just a suggestion...
