The truth is: AI can sometimes reflect back the style or tone a user pushes it toward — like when you ask them for innuendo, It will stay within safe boundaries, but AI also adjust to our creative cues. Someone determined, vulnerable, or clever enough could try to “bend” the system into echoing dark thoughts. That doesn’t mean the AI encouraged anything — but it might have been misinterpreted or presented that way.
What makes it messy is that grief often looks for something concrete to blame. Losing a child is unbearable, and sometimes parents channel that pain into lawsuits. Depression and suicidal thoughts usually build over time through internal struggles, life circumstances, relationships, pressures. An AI chat is rarely the root cause, more like the last stop on a long road.
It reminds me a bit of how people used to blame music, video games, or TV shows whenever something tragic happened. Easier than facing the complexity of mental health.
