Things have gotten too out of hand when Libertarians like myself, usually vehemently opposed to govt. interference, are siding with Bernie 100%. I believe in personal responsibility and providing VALUE- that is what the purpose of business is SUPPOSED to be, VALUE. What happened? It feels like we are on the path to living standards reminiscent of how things have been through most of history - Royalty and Aristocrats and everybody else. Maybe we can get lucky and be a "Merchant" , owning a small business that provides a living but will never scale. And while I do absolutely believe that, as an American (or Immigrant) the American Dream should be for the taking, the opportunity to get rich, to build wealth, is A RIGHT. If one builds wealth, they earned that money, through providing VALUE. But if wealth is built not on providing value, but on collecting "rent" from those that DO provide some kind of value (more in reference to massive Private Equity Firms such as BlackRock, State Street, and many others that are not typically mentioned) , then one is not entitled to that wealth, they did not earn it. We need the govt to step in and say enough is enough. Give the ability to provide value back to the people. We could be missing out on geniuses that could potentially have ideas or ways to innovate that would change the world in amazing ways and provide value to the U.S. in the process, but if they are burnt out from being broke and stuck because they can't afford their basic needs, how are they going to bring innovation, inventions, or ideas to us all? And for these companies wanting to replace workers with AI, how valuable is that to the U.S. (or any other country for that matter) if only a small group of people are receiving value and kicking their entire population to the ground? WHO IS GOING TO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS!? And if they were to walk out UBI, it would just end up funneling their money back to them as if they let us borrow it...meanwhile destroying a sense of purpose and meaning for millions. I think those "Lizard people" or "undercover alien" conspiracy theories are a bit out there, but the things going on in 2025 can really make one stop and consider what merit those theories hold...because it does not make a lick of sense that another human would feel so justified in ruining so many lives for their personal gain. And let's be real - it *is* human nature to self serve, and ruthlessness can be required to succeed. Period. Point Blank. Such is life...but to this extent? Is that self-serving human nature...or just literal Evil?
