AI and robotics absolutely will wipe out the working class, its not a question. This will gradually happen over the next 10-20 years. UBI will not be an option, its an absolute necessity, without it you are leaving the vast majority of the population for dead. The fact is that AI and robotics will soon be superior in every way to humans as workers, and refusing to adopt the technology in favor of keeping people working will only handicap your country and put you at a massive disadvantage to global competitors. A portion of the ridiculous wealth generated by automation must be generously redistributed among the population to cover their expenses, giving them the ability to participate in the economy and consume the goods the robots produce, as well as leaving them free to pursue entrepreneurial goals to build their own wealth. People will still be able to work, provide, and strive for a better life, it will just look different than it does today. Clinging to the soon obsolete system of human manual labor in exchange for money will get us nowhere in the competitive global economy. The debate shouldn't be about outlawing robot workers or forcing companies to employ humans, it should be about how best to distribute the resources that are generated by this tech. With this we could live in a world of post-scarcity where most energy, resources, and goods are essentially free for the entire world.
