I hope these problems are fixed very soon. If self driving cars become more mainstream in a few years and the problems are still present they may lead to more deaths in one group than another. For instance if there is a situation where swerving to avoid one pedestrian will lead to hitting another, and the algorithm recognises a white face first then more black people will be killed!
