i'm worried about how people have seemingly conceded on being comfortable with using AI to assist conceptual development. i think using AI at all in any point of the artistic process is detrimental to a person's development of their artistic abilities, because they're offloading the need to think about parts of the process to an unthinking, uncommunicative machine. concept artist is also a career field that i think has been disproportionately threatened by increasing use of generative AI, because their skills are not made directly visible in the final product, and thus to most people's metrics, that kind of use has become "ethical".
i think the myth of artistic genius has a hand in people thinking this way. people aren't used to seeing the ideation that goes into many people's art, rough sketches establishing the composition or form of a piece that precede the final product. these are important parts of the artistic process that absolutely should not be offloaded onto a destructive machine.
