I feel like I need to point this out in the spirit of honest conversation: Comparing Llama and alphafold just does not make sense. One is a generative language model, and the other is (a very sophisticated form of) a search algorithm. There is no scale on which one can place both of them and measure each other against. It also helps to clarify the contributions of alphafold.
Also, come on! Surely, are people not desensitized to "It's causing massive revolutionary breakthroughs in science and changing our lives as we speak" yet? Some real actual science point of view is a breath of fresh air. A very basic "science fan" explanation is surely not too challenging for "technology fans", is it ;)?
