You talk about how inscrutable and squiggly predicting the course of selection pressures can be… I still can’t follow your logic then to coming into a conclusion which is certain.
The potential power is vast and unpredictable, and that is scary enough. I don’t see whether you can or need to make the jump to the certainty of an extinction level of it. Just the possibility is a better position, and more logically rigorous.
For instance, who’s to say that an AI optimizing for an inscrutable task, decides that these human thingies living on an extra solar planet and expanding in space would be for the benefit of that task. It is not necessary IMMORAL, but AMORAL.
You can’t make a position that we can’t control or predict an outcome, and then make a leap to predicting a specific outcome, simply put.
If anyone builds it, everyone MAY die.
