2:00 What I don't get is: cars are inefficient, compound traffic problems, are maintenance intensive, and put loads of wear on roads due to the trip frequency; then there's the cost of making thousands of power trains and vehicle systems for just one continuous trip per vehicle.
If they applied the same technology to buses or trams to allow dozens more routes at minimal cost they could get 10 to 20 cars off the road for every one replacement.
That's much better then a car: so why not build self driving buses and trams instead? A $200,000 sensor and software pack is a lot easier to justify on a $700,000 bus that seats 30 to 50 people than a car that usually seats one person at a time.
