Just like the invention of nuclear power it can be used to generate electricity for an entire city or it can be used to obliterate an entire city, AI can be used to help scientists discover how the proteins within viruses and bacteria fold or it can create a deepfake of a movie actor endorsing a product the real actor never used and thereby influencing the public to take an action which might be harmful. Checks and balances must be put in place. Regulatory commissions and inspectors have their place to protect society.
