Shouldn't he still be able to make money off of his AI art piece ? I understand that he can't If somebody else is the copyright holder but If it can't be copyrighted shouldn't he be able to still sell it just not be able to prevent others from selling it too ? I would still argue that AI Art is art too. Maybe not If you just generate an image and say you are done. But there are ways to get way more involved in the process. First of all you could start with a rough sketch and use image 2 image functions to increase details. Then you could put it back into Photoshop change things you don't like. Put it back into image 2 image to make your edits seamless. And so on. I know that's not what the guy in the video did but that would make a difference for me. Still generated images shouldn't compete with hand drawn images in competitions. That's just not a fair comparison.
