86 year old CA hiker here; Need this old man say he’s overwhelmed by the modern tech terms you two are using. BUT, I ask that you stretch your thinking to consider that even a tech engineer retired for 26 years can jump over your latest tech terms. He, I, need only use the progression of your dialog to extrapolate toward the future effect of AI on society.
I’m afraid that the future looks pretty bleak to this old guy. Using legislative methods are neither powerful enough, nor can they anticipate rules required to control its aggressive growth - just as applying legislative methods proved to be inadequate to control the damage done by the Covid pandemic.
I’m afraid any effort to AVOID the possible harms of AI will have to be addressed by longer term efforts to RECTIFY the damage done after the fact. I’d say this will happen only when we finally function as a unified society again where money is no longer king. Thanks.
