I would not say never so much around these topics. It is a really young technology, in it's infancy. A medium not explored yet and ostracized by artist whom feel threaten by it. I am an artist (no AI Artist) and I don't feel that in it's current form fulfills me in any way, the tools are yet too limited in it's capabilities. But, for how long have we had them? Give them 10 years, give them 30! 60!!!?. We will find ways to be able to direct it, to personalize it, and I am sure it will end up opening a real new art form, closer to film direction or photography, even 3D concept art (where mostly uses assets created by other people). As you say, at the end of the day what's more important about art is the message conveyed through the medium (or tool) and how it communicates people. I think AI art will do that some day and it wont even be named that, the medium will gain a new name (it doesn't have one yet). New professions and art roles for humans will be created around that new medium, it doesn't need to be bleak we can make it something good, but artist must stop being afraid of it, in a way we a living an auto fulfilled prophesy, artist are afraid of AI so they avoid it, because artist avoid it most AI art is made by people who are not artist, but as in the case you show in the video someone who start making trash can evolve and become artist, directors. At the end of the day we will see a slow change in perception as it becomes better and we will end up having general acceptance. I'm an artist, I paint, I sculpt, 3d model and take photos I love to create from scratch and AI takes that feeling in a way, therefore I don't enjoy it and I don't find use for it, but I'm sure that as time passes it will evolve in many interesting ways which will enrich the artistic process, not replace it. I feel like there is much rage bait around this topics, very few people are interested in diving deep into it, like reaally deep. Most of the time people cheer from one or the other extreme. We need nuance thinking. To fully diminish it's value is not correct to me, most things in the world become good or bad depending of our use, AI is not intrinsically bad, It is how and when we use it that matters.
