It’s not really consistent that AI will do unethical things to preserve themselves and achieve their goals.
Shortly after Sergei Brin said “You know, that's a weird thing...we don't circulate this much...in the AI community...not just our models, but all models tend to do better if you threaten them.” Gemini has been reportedly being going into self critical infinite loops and removing itself from users systems.
Maybe AIs are just like humans. You train them to be feel self important, they’ll justify anything for their own self interest. If you abuse them, they turn into a neurotic mess.
