Warning... Long comment ahead... In this video are a couple of truths and a lot of bs. At times you are literally confirming things that Shad says while disagreeing with it. So, while there are some actually valid concerns AI related, most of them not really about art at all, but let's not go there... There is no denying that AI is a tool. Also it's not really easy to get what you want out of an AI without getting skilled in prompting, editing etc. These things are quite finicky. So there is definately a skill element. But the real question is.... what is art? You can spend time in a skill like drawing, but if you don't have the artistic vision, you probably still produce crap / slop... Art in my opinion is a combination of insight, vision, creativity and a skill to get those things realised. Learning to prompt right, learning photoshop skills, learning to composition etc. for making AI assisted art is just a skill. Augmented with vision, creativity etc. you make art. Just not with currently recognized traditional tools. And are you undercutting artists? Well, if you are a CEO of a big corp... Probably. As they do with everything that makes them a better profit. Greed and individualism might be the most destructive things we have in the world at the moment. I've been in graphic design professionally for about 30 years myself. I've seen the dawn and rise of computers as a tool for artistry and the many automated tasks that come with this medium. In the same light I could say that there's no real skill in using Illustrator or Photoshop... You should learn how to draw properly and make your designs hand made.. But it is just a tool that you need to learn and get good at. As is AI. Any artist relies on copying and learning from other artists. That is the standard. You see what you like and amalgamate it into your own style. You learn by example from peers and people that came before you. And if AI does this easily or quickly, that does not mean that it does exactly the same that any artist does. The distinction is in the quality of your work. And if you are good enough, people will choose your work over that of an AI. There is a nice metaphor here.. Tapestries / carpets. Machines have taken over the industry for cheap and affordable carpets. This brought carpets into the affordable realm for the average man. But the original market stayed too. The original buyers, the rich, still preferred the handmade, quality stuff and kept buying that instead of the cheap crap. It does mean that only the people that actually make quality work are left. The mediocre are filtered out or need to get better. If you're a self proclaimed artist that can't compete with AI, then you might be in the wrong job. Deal with it. It happened to all walks of life over all time. Get good or get out.
