If the evolution produces variation in language applications without true intelligence, but the same mechanistic advancement in “the selfish gene”, except its medium isn’t DNA writing proteins writing DNA, but language writing weights writing language… is the process of culling models as part of AI safety basically on its way to creating a “virus”? Or at least the evolutionary conditions of reproduction(variation/ competition)=evolution?
We struggle to decide whether a virus is alive, as we do AI. Perhaps they both occupy the same gray area of mechanistic reproduction we can’t help but project the values of self-preservations we life forms have?
