I think companies have to come to the realization that if they replace their workforce with AI to save costs, there will be no one to buy their products. Don't see how that helps them in the end since they'll have no customers. I see the case for Universal Basic Income funded largely by taxes on the corporations. Then the corporations can fight it out with each other for those customer dollars. The important thing is that would take the need to employ humans out of the equation for a successful economy. Would people stop pursuing self improvement? Some would but most would still pursue higher learning and higher goals even if money wasn't a factor. People would just do what they want to do as opposed to what they have to do.
