This is why when I use AI generated art, I always carefully choose my prompts to only include artists that have not been producing work in the past 60+ years. Some of my favorite prompts are Alphonse Mucha, Leonardo Davinci as well as other great masters of paint, sketch and sculpting. The system prompt models most AI's offer, however, are more geared towards modern artists. I will admit though that I foresee a near future, or possibly already now, a time when even generating specific prompts would bleed modern art examples into the work. I could see in a near future a potential for artists to create packets of artwork that AI companies could by to design specific prompt models, that could be a great passive income for some artists. As to your question of Music vs Visual artists dichotomy: the answer is simple. If visual art had a structured industrial business model that rakes in the billions upon billions of dollars annually, you could bet your bottom dollar that there would be laws protecting the fund$ of the rich corporate bosses... but then again, speak to any musician on how it feels to be part of that industry, and they will tell you they long for the days before they felt they were being @$$ raped by the corporates... Maybe the advent of AI is exactly what artists need? Maybe we can finally open up viable financial routes for artists willing to legally supply AI companies with modeling samples as contractual work with the same revenues that the music industries offer musicians? Maybe, there is potential here to allow more artists to pursue a visual art career that would offer the potential of making a living wage? Who knows, I might get back into art and make that degree of mine worthwhile? AI might also offer the opportunity for others to LEARN the art style of participating artists through courses and online training? Want to train with your favorite manga artists, can do! I see the negative, the underside of it all, but I also see great potential for artists... maybe we can have an artist organization sit down and negotiate terms with the AI developpers, making them understand through asking them, how they would feel if someone appropriated their code.... how would that feel?
