I won't call someone using AI prompts an 'artist'. But I also have to be honest: I'm making a tabletop game- and I need some basic imagery. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary, and I don't even need color. I need basic visual representation. Artists online are willing to do this- for absurd amounts. An example- an artist wanted to charge me $700 to draw 7 different fictional firearms that *I actually draft-sketched out* (crudely on graph paper). I'm sorry, I don't have thousands of dollars for this, especially when I am literally giving this product away for free. So I go and use an AI prompt for my imagery- and my tabletop game manual is *free* , so I'm not making money from it. So I can't give artists hundreds of dollars in the hopes they can do what I need- especially when it's usually something simple like a weapon, background environment, or a smoking crater. But artists act as if they are entitled to my money, and lots of it- and start seething and spewing at me because I'm not willing to throw money at them. So because of that, I'll use A.I. Sorry, guys- you did this to yourselves. I know it's hard, but- you chose this profession. Just because you went to college, spent money on software, practiced, etc. does not mean you're entitled to work and can't be rendered obsolete. Note that if I were *SELLING* this product for money, I'd be willing to share some royalties with an artist- but none of them were even willing to consider anything other than 'cash up front'.
