Most AI "researchers" are just lay people who like to fantasize about what ai could be, and are loud and good at being interviewed.
Meanwhile there are computer scientists in the real world who understand that AI is just what happens when you throw an internet worth of training data and a datacenter full of GPUs at autocomplete.
Jist because it can string sentences together based on probability doesn't mean it's sentient. It's just computers doing computer things (math).
