I don't, or at least, not in the sense that question would normally be understood. Consciousness is manufactured inter-subjectively among social agents with semantic capabilities. We *might* try to theorise it as a semantic virus that spreads on a hom sap population, but I think that's too reductive an approach to capture the causal dynamics at play. I think it does make good sense to treat it as an artificial intelligence, though on entirely different grounds to those proposed in OP. Put simply, it's a product of historical, not biological, processes (the 'it' being the specifically human form of consciousness that's at the heart of this debate).
