On the other hand, this ruling isn’t ideal for artists either. If the refusal had been based on the work being a copy, that would be more understandable. But instead, they ruled that AI-generated images can’t have copyright protection at all. This means you can't claim copyright infringement for using them, which could undermine legitimate artists' lawsuits arguing that their images were improperly used.
