Most jobs in the modern economy are a pitiful charade—a grotesque parody of purpose. People spend their lives adjusting steering wheels, stocking shelves, pushing pixels, and staring dead-eyed at computer screens, all in service of nothing more than keeping the machine sputtering along. It’s a vast, soul-draining theatre of futility—countless lives traded away for wages that barely sustain them, in roles that barely matter. The tragedy isn’t that AI might wipe out tens of millions of these jobs—it’s that it hasn’t done so already. For a species capable of unlocking the atom and mapping the genome, to have its brightest minds and ablest hands wasted on administrative drudgery and logistical tedium is an insult to human potential itself.
