It’s going to be interesting, especially the things that were never thought of in development but there’s one little thing about jobs in general . No one is born with a guaranteed job for life.. look at how the horse was replaced by the gasoline/diesel engine trucks. Look at how airplanes replaced crossing the oceans by ship look at how electricity replaced candles and the ice box.. look at how the invention of the elevator enabled people to build buildings, taller and taller.. I can definitely see driverless tractor trailers dominating a niche in the trucking industry. But I really don’t think it will be that big of a deal. The same way five years ago it seemed that everyone would be driving electric vehicles around the world pretty much in 2030 or 2035. Now that prediction has pretty much blown a fuse all around the world. There is a saying in sales that “sizzle sells the steak “ when it comes to driverless trucks, I believe there is some sizzle there, but only from a small street fender truck, not a dominating the industry size sizzle. At least not over the next 30 years or 40 years. A whole new class of mechanics must be trained , service centers must be opened. I don’t think there’s much sizzle to this threat to truck drivers jobs. At least not in our lifetime.
