My issue is that AI could just be run on what exists IN PUBLIC DOMAIN (legal free use) and still put writers out of business if that was the end goal.
We are acting like the philosophy of "nothing new under the sun" doesn't exist. Chances are whatever anyone has written thst exists under public domain was INSPIRED by other stories (as in the theft of their ideals)
Game of Thrones can not exist without Lord Of the Rings.
Lord of the Rings can not exist without ancient European folklore.
Personally, I think if we spent less time bellyaching about something as inevitable as phone or internet, we might actually make a useful TOOL out of it.
On the flip of that, if you REALLY believe AI could never achieve what humans can create (a lot of anti-ai people out there) WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT IT HAS ACCESS TO if you believe ITS SO INFERIOR?
All I see is the same old story, humans are afraid of the unknown and things they cannot understand.
