The reason they're doing it (beyond the obvious "sweep" of assuming a quality standard that THEY control) is to simply apply algorithms that embed Ai metadata, which then obviously feeds back into the search engines, which are not only heading the way of being fundamentally driven by Ai themselves, but they're being "fed" more and more with Ai generated content by users. Thus, by surreptitiously "remoulding" uploaded content through an Ai framework (unbeknownst to the creators) YouTube is able to make sure that Shorts will appear across browsers and as many social platforms as possible. It's nothing more than a way to further seed videos and dominate, against platforms like tiktok - an app now absolutely FLOODED with Sora generated short videos.
