My personal take about AI art is that, is actually a really great tool to be accepted, and I will explain over it in a short and long way for those who barely care and those who would want to know. Short: It's a tool, and like a tool, it's meant to make your work easier, not all the work. The problem is not AI itself, the problem is the corporate mind that is behind the scene. Long: Just like a tool, it helps you to do the job easier, not to do all the job, you can't just let it happen, is gonna be horrible. If you go and just push the button of a drill and also let the AI do anything, using what they did by themselves as the final result, well that's just gonna be a horrible job. Just as the drill, the AI is gonna facilitate you the job in multiple ways, because just like any other tool, is to save time in multiple different activities. When an artist takes the AI, is gonna help him to the specific art easier, from a sketch to a more complete draw faster than the usual, from it to a more refined job, or even to have a closer idea about how is gonna look with the coloring afterwards, letting you save time over the colors you want or use. It can also help you with references or ideas to draw, although I'm not that good at drawing, many times whenever I've wanted to draw, I just don't know what to draw. One day messing with the AI, it randomly generated an image which I did liked a lot the way it was made, which I then proceed to use as an inspiration to make it on my own on krita. I still did draw, I still used references from other images of the character to make it look good, and I still used an AI for it, but the AI could've never done what I did (pretty sure there are more ways, but I'm not good at drawing). Artist are not the only ones able to make something with it, is meant to be easy and accessible, while I've seen artist to counter this argument with "just pick up the pencil and practice" not everyone has the time or desire to practice over and over until it's finished. Souls games are really rough at first, and many people do not complete these games by how rough it is, it's the same thing, not everyone have the time or desire to complete a souls game even though it would definitely demand less hours than drawing. AI being used as something for saving time is actually huge, I do have a roleplay RPG campaign I direct, and using AI to make visual images of my NPC is a huge time saver. As I've expressed previously, I can somewhat draw by myself, and I could technically draw an image of every NPC by myself, yet I would NEVER draw the total 170 NPCs characters I've done over the past years on this campaign with my players, it's already enough time consuming controlling the NPCs, because it's not only active on weekly sessions, but also through the week in which my players can interact with the NPCs and the system we've made, plus having the make my maps and set up the sessions. As a solo videogame developer, the AI in general helps A LOT on saving time and help to bring life to an idea sooner. I could spend hours and hours in a single pixel art, which I've done before, or I could spend just a few hours over most of them while I focus on other aspects. In general, it's an amazing tool which is being over hated because of the corporate mind that is also pushing it, like hating AI because it steals art (though not all models do this) is basically the same as hating guns/knives because someone rob you with it. It's not the tool, it's the person behind it.
