I think he is late to the AI conspiracy. We are already seeing those "smartest people on the planet" lowering the investment on AI since from where we are, we will have little to no improvement in their capacity. Now it's more about consolidating the AI's place in our work environment, sure, we are and will be replacing some jobs, but newer ones always emerges. For example we cannot fully trust AI outputs, so we already have jobs that review those outputs. We got to a plateau where the problem now is hardware, we don't have the processing power nor the energy to really do any advancement from where we at now. And even if we have the capacity to train AI exponentially, it's hard to select the right data to train AI, even AI "art" is getting worse since they are training the "art" with AI "art" and it gets strange because every AI "art" have some defect but the AI doesn't know what it is. And it's so much data, that even if all humans worked selecting the right data (considering we have infinite processing power and energy), we would still have incorrect outputs. It's way more useful to use it as it is now, "the smartest people" already are focusing on this.
