The only real reason to use AI for reference is for inspiration of some kind, or to get at least a vague idea of an image that doesn’t normally exist, or something like that. Like, I once used a particularly messed up photo to create a character that incorporated the weird design into their abilities, tried to make sense of it. Naturally, actual work always outweighs it, but sometimes it’s just…faster to get the broad strokes. Need specifics? Just look it up. Put some work into it.
