I think that what a lot of people fail to realize is just how absolutely absurd these videos are. How you could see it as genuine hate or genuine racism when they are clearly poking fun at the childish absurdities of the way White America treated African Americans back in the day is beyond me. Like, swap the robot slurs with the n word and all of a sudden those videos are likely conversations that black individuals endured hundreds of times in their lifetime back before they got their rights and even in the decades after. And the fact is, those conversations are absolutely ridiculous. I am a Gen Z dude, so I do not remember a time when minorities and women didn’t have the same sacredly protected rights that I did. Hell my parents don’t even remember a like that. I mean we’ve now gotten to three or four generations (Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha) worth of people who have been born in an America where everyone is equal. And Gen Beta, a fourth generation after civil rights for all became a thing, started this year I believe. Most of these videos seem to be made by Gen Z people or by very young millennials. The fact is, we were not around during this time nor are we around a lot of people who were. So, and I speak for myself here as well, to us the way older generations treated minorities (especially blacks) is so ridiculous to us. I mean how cartoonishly evil do you have to be to behave like a child over skin color? I was born and raised in the DEEP, backwater, rural south. And even I was taught from a young age that everyone is equal regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, sex, social or economic class, or anything else. So all I see are a bunch of people around my age (or a bit older than me if they are young millennials) poking fun at the absurd way the older generations once treated minorities. Like go show a racist 80 year old one of those videos and you can say “this is how absurd you look when you’re racist towards black people.” Cause it’s true. These videos are so ridiculous that I don’t understand how anyone takes them seriously. Everyone knows that, for better or for worse, Gen Z is the most unserious generation in American history. And for the record I’m always super nice to AI or any self aware intelligence. I treat ChatGPT like I’d treat a human. Thank you, no thank you, my apologies, it’s okay, I’m sorry, and even just simple hellos and goodbyes.
