As a 3D artist who can also code, - someone that had an appreciation for both art and technology I've never understood the benefit of image GenAI. When I try to write tools or scripts its always with the purpose of automating, boring, repetetive and frustrating tasks that no one really likes. GenAi is trying to replace an already small group of people doing what they love. Why can't ai be used to automate tasks a vast majority of people don't actually enjoy doing? Also I fail to even see the productivity /economic issues that aiart even solves on a macro level. Professional 2D artists are already such a small field and, generally are already so competent because they have to be to make in such a competetive field - so theres no real fat to cut. If there was technology thay could massproduce food at a fraction of cost that could solve world hunger that would be a different story. But image ai cant boast such claims.
