For Society as a whole "To be more productive" is of course the nature of automation and the ongoing industrial Revolution, but what happens to the people who are no longer needed in this 'new economy'? After six months of unemployment, they are no longer counted as 'members' of the economy. How do they get to profit from this 'increased productivity' which is counted as income / profit per employee? The more employees that are flushed out of the economy, the higher the 'productivity'. We need to recognize, not every person has every strength, and so not everyone can be effectively retrained to another job that will pay even a fraction as much as they had been earning. Totally ignoring all the advanced wages they earned based on their skills which companies always devalued, and now some CEO is going to decide they are completely devalued. Sure, at first it will be the entry level positions that the AI will take, but that will accelerate and more will disappear. Productivity helped us when we had effectively unlimited global markets, and we sat at the top. No longer.
