Didn't touch on it directly in this interview, but one of Yang's main points about where we're headed is that we measure progress/success the old way (growth in the economy), with little regard for people's lives. The growth model of capitalism supposedly raises "everyone" up, but that is coming into question, in a system through which the rich are the only ones benefitting these days. If you are in the bottom 1/3 of the economy, things are getting WORSE, not better for you. This will accelerate without a significant refocus on things that matter to poor people. The AI may take over in a decade and fix this, but I would NOT count on this outcome. More likely by far is worldwide suffering while the rich continue to attempt to isolate/protect themselves from the world they (for the most part) control.
