Saying ''we're implementing AI to replace half our staff and increase profits'' sounds a lot better than ''we're effectively in cost cutting mode because our finances are bad and there is a recession starting''. The first story gives some investors the confidence not to tank stock prices the next day. What the whole AI story is is just about hiding the recession to try to avoid some of its impacts.
