The issue with Scott’s comment about “new jobs are always created” doesn’t mention the fact that many factory workers replaced by automation and off shoring were left behind in the sense that they needed to learn a new skill and if they did the new blue collar job wasn’t immediate. Now, white collar workers are being asked to be more productive by using Ai which cuts down on new hires and loss of head count. As those left to use Ai help Ai get better at replacing workers the problem compounds. The new job opportunities will be managing Ai teams and the trades like plumber and electrician. Also, most recently new jobs are more likely to be driving uber or doing door dash so the labor stats are likely worse than reported
