Current AI are hi-res emulations of sentience. Humans are always anthropomorphising(?) whatever we encounter which now includes AI. Unfortunately there is a subsector of society who are always searching for a new underclass to save. Next they will demand the vote for AI and electricity as a basic human right when ultimately AI has the same 'soul' as a hammer.
