Regarding the Universe 25 hypothesis: we are already in it. we already are in a context in which, for the most part, needs are more fabricated than genuine. Most folks in the west do not starve to death, do not die to predators, do not fail to find clean water or a shelter. They tend to isolate and give in to hedonism, true, but they also do find their own enrichment, so I feel like this isn't so much a future to fear, but a present that should moderately comfort us: we handle it vastly better than mice, apparently, even though we should eat the rich and give in to cannibalism. Concerning AI as a source of art: There is concerted effort to demonize, ridicule and devalue creative efforts because most of the oligarchs currently ruling the world, who are tremendously ignorant, often stubbornly and willingly uneducated and very arid, attempt vehemently to show how money is the only measure of a humman's true value. So, when they see people moved by others' creativity or feel something themselves when confronted with a piece of art it scares them, leaving them with their convictions utterly shattered. Their natural and istinctive response to this fright is to try and destroy the source of their fear, so they throw money at the problem, which is the solution they are more familiar with to any given problem, ask genuinely talented and inventive people to make an artificial program - that has nothing of what we generally associate with "intelligence" to it, other than its name - to take away the power of creative minds to move others. When they realize this effort is fruitless and destined to fail, they steal and have the audacity to even blatantly state that, if artists were to withhold their works from these algorhythms, said algorhythms would stop working - effectively admiting to the theft. Seeking to appropriate or commodify creativity is something people in positions of power have always attempted: Leonardo da Vinci, mentioned in the video, worked primarly on commissions of people with enough wealth to keep him on a single painting for years. At least those patrons had the decency to aknowledge their uncreative minds and praise those of artists, even attributing it tangible value. Now, they try to strip said value from artists. Fortunately, they are failing and will always fail: there's a reason people have painted on cave walls since the very dawn of time and will invariably continue to do so. P.
