I consider myself an artist. Because I write code.
For me the passion I have that leads me to write a simple forloop, is art.
Even if its been done before, the passion that created it makes it artistic. I think passion has a lot to do with creation.
I can see where AI prompters come from. If they feel passion for something when using AI to produce it, its a little like creating a collarge, or photo album. A lot of passion with design desisions go into each little step.
But I also think you should understand that if you use other ppls images to create your art, you'll come under scrutiny.
I imageine artists that do collarge work also face the same issues... they might get sued
