Another way we aren't ready for it that i thought of, and yes it may be a rare circumstance but it might happen
If the car is driving at a certain speed, and an accident is about to happen and the algorithm ends up having to choose between turning into the oncoming car or into bystanders, or even veering itself off the road and potentially causing damage/death to the passengers inside. Regardless of whichever choice is chosen someone is injured and i dont think that we could handle leaving that type of choice up to a robot.
